Dear Fellow Members,

I was sitting around a campfire meeting in the daytime up in Tennessee during one of the Surrender under the Stars Weekends when a gap finally closed for me. It finally came clear just how defects are functional. They keep us from being more effective and thus enlarging our range of insanity and by harming more people, creating more room for our own guilt. When we begin to recover, we can let go of some of the behaviors that used to restrict us because we are literally getting on with our lives. This is not intended to make light of some of the worst defects, which may certainly be horrible. But only to share one members view of how God - Higher Power - really is running the universe.

In some writing for this book on relationships it seems quite stark that defects rise to the surface rather harshly as we spend more time with others. As we grow, we learn freedom and our restrictive characteristics fall away.

In Loving Service,

Bo S.
