Greg,
It is not a Tradition violation for a Service Committee that has been put into place to serve and support Groups in a particular Area to help a Group which may be temporarily struggling financially. Money donated to an Area Service Committee by local Groups, is no different than money donated to a Group by It's Members. Our primary purpose is to carry the Message to the Addict who still suffers. I remember in the early days World Services sending "starter kits" to newly formed Groups for this purpose. The Autonomy of a Group must be kept intact, however, there is nothing within our Traditions which states or even implies that Groups should not support each other in whatever way is necessary. It actually takes very little money to run a Group. Rent sometimes can be exchanged for services such as cleaning, yard mowing, or any other service deemed appropriate by the facility in which a Group may meet. IP's and other Literature may be copied and made available to New Comers at Meetings and refreshments may not be necessary for a time, or at least kept to a minimum. Clean time may be recognized with a hug or by any other method agreed upon by the Group until sufficient funds are in place to purchase tokens such as key tags, etc. However, I wish to stress once more that the support of any Group by other groups, be it by direct contributions or thru an Area Service committee, is perfectly acceptable according to our Traditions. Especially the First Tradition.
In Loving Service, Steve S. Dalton, Ga
