Two years at twenty - that's really something. I am committed to people like you who are working their program and looking for spiritual growth. I know we all are but it is refreshing to be 'out' about it.
When I was fourteen, I started going to coffee houses - rare in those days - because I could talk to people and they had answers where kids my age had none. I fantasize that I would have taken to recovery back then had it been available. The beatniks frowned on my drinking more than wine or beer. Weed was not common and they got all the pills. Occasionally, I would get totally drunk out of my mind and they would carry me from party to party and flop me down on the floor at each new one. I might have been 'qualified.'
What we are working on is keeping our way of life open and full-spectrum. As an artist, I have occasionally encountered lines like, "discipline is creative, control is deadening' so when I read elsewhere that corporation control and deaden, I think I know what they mean. In our case it is hard because we all want stability and a reasonable degree of order without it become stifling, an end unto itself. Complete, creative freedom is the description that attracted me to NA. I believe the NA Way of Life book is as close as I have read of material that speaks to me, especially when I am hurting. Hopefully, there will be more creative works in the future. Gotta keep moving!

A gal in Aliquippa put it best for me about youth in recovery. She said, "The feelings are the same, the situations are different. We have to do what our parents tell us."
