Going through the counters on different pages, sex is the one that gets a lot of hits, that and Step One!
Without going through and looking, I feel one of the areas that needs to be touched on involves the less 'loving' aspects of what pretent to be emotional relationships and are in fact just a species of dishonest agression. Predation, improper advances, deceitfullness need to be covered to allow real caring and sharing to show through. Male - and female - predators exist in our social setting as in all other human organizations. Some are quite up front and do little damage, and perhaps some good. After all it is hard to get love without 'giving' something. But we all know that 'drugs in one form or another' includes sex or perhaps more properly lust. Improper advances include going 'after' someone who is just seeking recovery and converting a basically spiritual interaction into something else again is improper when it involves dishonesty. And it is this dishonesty, not the sexuality, that is damaging.
Within our Fellowship, we need to allow for our lovers but also keep this a safe place for addicts seeking recovery. Without moralizing or interferring, it is up to us to openly consider what we do and how it may affect others. After all, personal service is what we really offer in NA and we want to keep it clean!
