Dear Kaytel,

Welcome! You aready sound like a member but this being the internet, it may help to go through some basics. You can stop for now and lose the desire to use by following the suggestions and working the Twelve Steps of NA. Since you mention painkillers, get a doctor to help advise you on withdrawal from whatever you have been taking. I understand some withdrawal can be life threatening as well as painful. We really care about our people and don't want to expose you to any danger! Please, take very special care of yourself. Because of what we know of our disease, specifically that addicts don't usually seek help until they are long past the point where they first crossed the line, try to keep your life simple, locate some members and meetings in your area, and let the people there know you are a member by expressing your pain to them. Listen to their experience but not their advice. We don't claim to be doctors as a program but you'd be surprised how smart addicts get with a little recovery. Be careful about withdrawal, but cash in on the hugs, friendships and good feelings of being a part of something good. Something built by addicts, for addicts.

In Loving Service,

Bo S.
