Time has come to think about carrying our message. Many, many members have worked on this book over the years. Most reach a point where they go on with their regular lives and recovery. Many read the NA Way of Life as part of their recovery program, even in review form!
Now, a lot of you have followed the growth and development of our service structure along with the Fellowship. You do not need to be told that as our numbers grow, our interface shrinks. The way I interpret this is that while there are a few business things that need to be taken care of, the rest is up to us. Writing recovery material is both easy and everyday for some members - and impossibly hard for others. That is just the way it is. I believe the writing is divinely inspired and any member can do it with prayer. It cannot be done for money, property or prestige. While you may grow as a writer, it will not make you rich or famous. If you want riches and fame, be ready to work like hell with no guarantees. That is another subject entirely. We write so others may live and live better, happier lives.
Carrying the message that this is what we are about is one way to let other members know of our work and bring them to a point of readiness to help. Reading the material and becoming informed on it's history, progress and completion will make you into someone who can play a role in helping complete the work if your Higher Power ok's it. Seriously, only a few members write stuff like this and we need to be as real as possible. It is not our purpose nor is it necessary to get everyone involved. Just the ones who are called to the work, that's enough. It is a part of our method to present and read the material with as many members as possible to tailor the writing to their experience, strength and hope.
