Sorry if I came across as being (anti-AA). That was not my purpose. I absolutely believe with all my heart that Members identifying with that Fellowship should commit to those beliefs. I also know from experience how confused New Comers become when no one takes the time to explain to them the difference between the sugestions made in Recovery Groups and those made by treatment centers. My earlier reply should leave no doubt in the mind of New Comer and Old Timer alike, that we are NOT in competition with any other fellowship. NA Members have spent years adapting the Steps and developing a Program of Recovery that works for us. Any one who thinks this is harsh simply has not attended enough funerals of friends and loved ones who have died from the disease of addiction. One fact to pass along to those who think that we who stand up for Narcotics Anonyous run off New Comers: A person in desperation willing to surrender cannot be swayed from recovery by any means. A person unwilling to surrender who is willing to be swayed, will find enough excuses to get loaded on their own.
