Glossary of Terms

anonymity: The state of having set aside personal considerations for some greater good.

attachment: Close and ongoing relationship to person, place or thing. Can be healthy or unhealthy. Worldly attach ments block the spiritual life.

clean: The state of total abstinence from all drugs. Also, comes to mean the feelings we associate with feeling about ourselves and our relationships to other human beings.

common welfare: What we have accumulated in NA and hold in common as a Fellowship. This includes what we have to share with our members, old or new.

gratitude: To be consciously thankful for the good things in our life.

group conscience: The process of polling in various ways how members feel about something that affects their life and their Fellowship. Includes both items of what we do or avoid in NA as well as how we do things.

Rainbow Warrior: Person committed to preserving all colors of the rainbow, i.e. not just black and white.

selfless service: A form of giving that acknowledges the primary role of the God of our under standing in what we do to help others.

surrender: The state or having submitted to some situation where we find ourselves powerless.
